Option A- OLD (Traditional Resume/Cover Letter)
As you build you e-portfolio you will need to include a resume and cover letter. We have provided several cover letters and resumé templates that you can choose from below. Look at each of them and decide which templates you like the most or devise one of your own. If you already have a resumé and cover letter prepared, perfect go to step #2 or better still go to OPTION B and create a LinkedIn Profile!
Step #1(creating new)- Create a resume/cover letter that sets you apart from other applicants in a GOOD way.
Step #2 (updating a previous resume/cover letter)- Share your resume/cover letter with an EXPERT. An expert could be a family member, a friend, or a willing Professional who works in the 'industry' that you would be preparing your resume for. If your mom is a teacher and you are preparing your resume to work in a hair salon- do NOT share with her! If your dad is an golf pro and you are preparing your resume to work at the clubhouse at the local golf course-YES he can provide some insight! IF you don't have access to that expert please share it with a parent or another teacher.
Step #3- Ask for feedback in regards to your resume/cover letter. Use this article to help you and your expert. Feedback needs to be shown to your teacher, whether your expert uses the comment in Google Doc or they write on it and you take a picture to document what they suggest before you make changes.
Step #4- Make revisions to your resume/cover letter after this course is complete. Remember that a resume should be a constant work in progress. Changes should be made as you gain different experiences.
